RE: Community Director
hitRECord is expanding so that our production company can meet the growth that’s knocking at our door. One of the first orders of business is to take on some new staff. I think we’d all agree that given the growth of the community, a Community Director is needed. The Community Director will help curate the site, assist the community with daily support and to be a reliable line of communication between the company and the community.
The candidate for this position was an easy choice. Matt Conley has shown his commitment as a team player countless times and he has been ever so consistent with making and running the RE-REC collaboration for over a year now. I’m happy to make him hitRECord’s first Community Director!
As with everything on hitRECord, job roles and responsibilities will most definitely grow and become more defined with time and experience. So with that said, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you hitREcord’s new Community Director, Mr. Matt Conley!
Thanks Again.

It’s maybe because of the generation gap, but if I have known some Korean Hip Hop and ‘independent’ artists for a while now, I wasn’t - I’m still not - aware of Kpop (or K-pop?) music (the actual popular music). Maybe because I’m not a teenager anymore… and it’s probably because I don’t consider music in the same way than 10 years ago (more than 10 years ago actually)… Anyway.
Recently, one of my younger cousins talked to me about a Korean band called ‘BigBang’, a Korean band that he likes. I’ll be honest, I was quite circumspect and skeptical about them, especially 1) because my cousin and I have really different music tastes, 2) and because after watching a Kpop all-female band performing on a certain French tv show lately, Kpop didn’t look very appealing.
But, I was happily surprised by the quality of their music. The thing that caught my attention is the (already famous?) “Boom Shakalaka”. Actually I was sure I heard it before and after a quick research, I have found the song wherein you can hear a longer version of this “Boom Shakalaka”: it’s in the song Put’ em up by Teddy Park from 1TYM (it’s one of the first Korean groups that I have discovered few years ago).

Maybe it’s a coincidence, a tribute or something else? Thanks to all the Bigbang’s fan who write numerous articles about them, I have discovered that the song was produced by Teddy Park!
Ah, it’s really a small world :)
PS: for those who knows Kpop music, you would probably already know that Teddy Park worked with BigBang, but it was a real surprise to me. I was also surprised to see that Tablo’s solo album, Fever’s End, was also produced by the same record label, YG Entertainment. I’m impressed. wow
I use this occasion to tell you that you should definitely listen to Korean Hip Hop music. Korean language has a great musicality.
Even this new BigBang album, Alive; actually, it’s not bad at all, it’s even better than some overrated contemporary American or European bands.
